Hello Future Vikings,

We are excited to have you all joining us here at Hefner! Below you will find out some important information.

★ To participate in ANY sport, you will have to have a sports physical completed by your doctor or care physician. The date on the physical HAS TO BE AFTER MAY 1ST 2022! These physicals are good for the full school year. It will be good for all sports throughout the year that you want to try out for. You will turn them into Coach Pence! Parents please keep a copy! Physical Form

★ RANKONE!! Each athlete that makes the team will need the Rankone forms filled out. Once you fill out all 6 forms then they are good for each sport they want to tryout for. I have attached the Rankone information sheet to this as well. RankOne Instructions

★ These four sports start before…YES, I SAID BEFORE school actually starts. Usually around the 1st of August: Football, Softball, Volleyball, and Cross Country.

★ In October these two sports will be available: Basketball & Wrestling.

★ In February these two sports will be available: Soccer, Golf & Track.

★ Yes, you can play multiple sports. All coaches highly encourage it!

★ Never played a sport before! GREAT, this is the PERFECT time to try out and learn the sport. Our coaches at Hefner will prepare you and teach you the basic skills and rules of that sport.

★ We provide the jerseys and equipment. If a jersey or shorts are lost or damaged the athlete is responsible for paying for them. $60 per item.

★ The things you will need to provide:

o  Football – cleats, mouth guard, water bottle.
o  Softball – cleats (first year ever to play purchase rubber cleats), 12-12 ½ inch glove, water bottle, sunscreen, sun visor or hat, weather appropriate clothing. Always be prepared to practice outside or inside.
o  Volleyball – gym shoes, knee pads, and water bottle.
o  Cross Country – running shoes, water bottle, sunscreen, cooling towel.
o  Basketball – basketball shoes and water bottle.
o  Wrestling – wrestling shoes and water bottle.
o  Track – running shoes (depending if they are a sprinter then they will possibly need shoes with spikes), sunscreen, water bottle.
o  Soccer – cleats, soccer socks, and water bottle.

★ Most practices will be after school. Some may be at 6am which will be during the basketball season. You must be picked up within 15 minutes of practice ending. Make arrangements if needed. If the athlete is late being picked up it can cause possible elimination from the team. Biggest thing is to CONTACT the coach in advance so they can be prepared.

★ Each sport will have a parent and athlete meeting before the season to answer any questions you may have. This is a MANDATORY meeting not optional! If unable to attend the athlete will not be able to attend practice until the coach meets with the parent over expectations and guidelines for that summer.

★ Being a STUDENT ATHLETE is huge at Hefner! You will be held accountable to attend every practice and keep your grades up. If any of your classes drop below a 70 which is a C. You will be put on probation for a week, which means you will have consequences or possibly missing practice and attending tutoring. If your grade does not improve the following week you will be not eligible to participate in any games that week. You will still participate in practices but will not be able to play!
